So do I! It’s like giving birth to a child -you feel so possessive and protective about it. I know I have to buffer up for criticism, but I would rather they badger me than my baby! Is that abnormal? What do you feel?

No I understand exactly where you’re coming from. With my own book out this month and one out last year I know that trepidation. I hope you will feel supported by your community here rather than criticised. 🙂

Super! I’ll check it out on your website. Only, I’m not too comfortable with Kindle since I love to hold a real book in hands.
Is your book available on Amazon India? Hope so. Do give me a link, if so.

No alas my first book I chose not to put on Amazon – you can get it through the links on my blogs. My new book will be available on Amazon but I’m not sure if that will include Amazon India or not – I hope so!

So am I, with butterflies jamming my stomach.
Thanx for reminding me – I’m planning a post on cover design. My artist & I slogged over it. I’ll explain the symbolism of every feature there, especially for those unaware of Indian epic Mahabharata and its labyrinthine cast.
Happy weekend!

Thank you. No, I’m not actually Indian. I live in the UK and follow vaisnava dharma under the guidance of my departed guru. I used to travel to and fro, India, visiting many holy places with our sanga for many years. You know, Hare Krishna.

Ah,I see. Forgive me if I’m wrong – but does ISKCON equate to Vaishnava dharm? Or are they subsets of each other?
I came into contact with ISKCON only in my quest to understand Bhagwad Gita’s meaning.

Firstly, the ‘Bhagavad-Gita As It Is’ translated by A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja, is the original and authentic Gita. He was the founder of ISKCON and he brought Krsna Consciousness (KC) to the West. They are all considered Vaisnavas and Vaisnavis in ISKCON. But, there is another branch under the same umbrella of KC which is called Gaudiya-Vaisnavas.
This is so, because we are following exclusively in the line of Krsna’s latest incarnation (Sri Caitanya-Mahaprabhu) 500 years ago in West Bengal, Mayapura dhama. He appeared this time in a secret golden form that only a few elites knew it was the same Syama coloured Krsna who had appeared 5000 years ago in Vrindavan. Of course some argue that it was in Mathura, but it was in fact, in Vrindavan.
So, yes, it could be called a subset, but Gaudiya-Vaisnavas have something more that ISKCON lacks – some deeper insights. But no discredit to ISKCON, as they are exactly where they should be and doing what they are doing for the general public. They nonetheless, do wonderful works and share KC to a great degree, so that general people can understand and benefit from the Veda shastras. They represent the butter and Gaudiya-Vaisnavas/Math represent the ghee; the essence of butter.
It is very rare for anyone to directly go to the Gaudiya-Vaisnavism path, unless they have amassed great spiritual credits. Generally people first get acquainted with KC from ISKCON, then develop further from Gaudiya Matha. But it’s not absolutely necessary that everyone has to go first through ISKCON. It depends on the level of consciousness of the jiva and what their soul needs.
Please feel welcome to ask anymore questions you may have. I am pleased to share and to have made contact with you. Hare Krishna 🙂

Thank you for the deep insights. I love the peaceful – and clean environment of ISKCON temples. I try my best to chant on a daily basis. It definitely helps me to focus better and streamline my thoughts.

You are very welcome. That is one of the wonderful things of ISKCON; that they maintain a high level cleanliness and organisation. Without putting pressure on yourself, you do what you can manage. That’s how I do. 🙂 Some chant 64 rounds, some chant 32, some chant 16, some chant 8 and some may chant 4 or 1 round. Depending on our circumstances, we adopt as best we can. It is the mood and level of sincerity behind what we do in KC that makes the difference.
