Dear Blogger Long time no see. Hope this finds you in the pinkest of health.
I know 2 competitors are rarely friends, but I’m your ardent follower. I’m amazed at the creative population who populates your kingdom. It is this rich variety of wordsmiths who drag me to your door time and again.
P.S: On getting feedback, let me clarify. This post is a loving complaint by WordPress users (xxx.wordpress.com) to Blogger users (yyy.BlogSpot.com), with regards to the tedious and lengthy procedure required to post a comment on BlogSpot.com type of blogs.
With all due respect to your multi-talented citizens, please allow me to state …
1. I am NOT a Robot. Isn’t there a simpler method to prove my flesh n blood existence? I mean, how do you know a robot cannot type the 3 numbers you flash at me for ‘Verification’?
2. I’m not a virus. Why do you live in such an impregnable virtual fortress? Let me recount the cordons I have to breach to reach you.
First I have to produce my identity card – wordpress, openID etc. Fair enough. Then I’ve to checkmark the non robotic space. Next I’ve to type 3 numbers. Then click Verify. Then I wait patiently while you go into endless loops. By the time you decide that I’m not a trespasser, I twiddle my thumbs. Just when I think you have opened the gates for me, there’s the next hound growling and prodding me to click ‘Publish.’ Silly me, I thought I was already shooed in.
So you may well wonder, why do I still linger around you?
The credit goes to your talented netizens. Their words resonate within me, spark ideas within me, ignite my imagination and fetch a sunshine smile on my lips.
I love exchanging comments with them, the back and forth volley of words. They are worth battling my way into your territory.
Please ease the process. Feel free to point out if my kingdom’s gatekeepers too give you headaches and heartaches. I’m open to change and criticism.
FYI, bridges exist to connect people. Don’t convert it into a draw-bridge and a trench that isolates our citizens.
Yours sincerely, WordPress.

Have I? I hope I’ve not been too abrupt and blunt in my post. It wasn’t my intention to offend, just to get opinions if there are easier methods to post comments on Blogger.

No no. You didn’t offend, nor were you blunt or abrupt. You just put out what most of us face. In fact, I have almost stopped commenting on Blogger..

I should have clarified better on my post. The Blogging sphere has 2 main players – Blogger & WordPress. When I ( wordpress user) have to post a comment on Blogger (BlogSpot.com user’s blog),I have to go through those multiple steps before my comment gets through.
And I have to do it even if I’ve posted comments on ur blog on prior occasions and even though I’m an email subscriber. Hence the slight frustration from my end. Like I mentioned, I return to certain blogs bcos I genuinely enjoy the writer’s content and style, inspite of the security gates I’ve to cross every time.
Just curious to know if you as Blogger user have to face similar steps when commenting on WordPress blogs.

I’m so glad about that. That said, it becomes to post replies to comments directly via Reader facility. Do you get email notifications for each comment on your blog?

Yes. I do.

🙂 I can really understand your pain about filling the forms again and again while submitting comments on blogs, but if these arrangements were not there then consider how many spams the blog owner had to tackle everyday? So I guess these types of security things are better…

Hi Alok. I’m not against security gates at all. I approve of self-protection thoroughly.
However, it should apply to first time visitor and not to frequent visitors.
I find having to go through entire procedure even on blogs to which I’ve subscribed by email and also blogs where I’ve commented on prior occasions.
However, I’m not sure if Blogger members are given an easier access to Blogger sites just as WP members get easy access to other WP blogs. It’s possible that Blogger members are not required to go through as many steps as non-Blogger visitors. Any idea on this point? Would love to know.

Hi, not at all! I’m so glad you gave me this feedback.
I logged out and visited my blog as a visitor, and realized that it is indeed difficult to go to latest post. So now I’ll edit the settings to show posts by month & date rather than by post category.
I really appreciate your words. Thank you for making me aware of a visitor’s headache. I’ll rectify it at the earliest.

I sincerely hope they don’t deter visitors. Some of my Blogger friends write such top-notch stuff, that it would be a pity to lose out due to stiff security.

I honestly do face a mounting frustration when I try to comment on Blogger blogs. It’s like the airport with multiple security checks and personal scans. But as I said, I loyally visit my favorite Blogger blogs, inspite of the hurdles.
Do u face the same?

Its a letter from WordPress user to Blogger user.
I don’t know if you face the same set of problems as I do. There is a very elaborate scheme of security gates to scale before I can post a comment on Blogger blogs (the ones with BlogSpot.com)
Do you too?

Oh, You mean commenting on sites! I do have the Greatest difficulty in that. Many times the pages that open are declared as ‘Unsafe’ by my Norton (or is it Google?). Yeah, they should make these things simpler. 🙂

Oh, I haven’t faced the unsafe warning as yet. MAYBE Norton is being overprotective? I haven’t installed Norton, so that is one headache I haven’t yet encountered.
I think WordPress to WordPress and Blogger to Blogger commenting must have been deliberately made easier than WP to Blogger and vice versa.

Hmm, either you follow them back – and then trace their recent posts via email or subscribe to RSS feed on their blog. SAME FOR likes – Go to their blog, you follow them & they’ll follow you.

Whom to follow is a choice granted to you, thankfully. How frequently and which posts to respond too is a choice.
I think somewhere it does boil down to the repeat guests to your blog. I mean, I may keep adding followers to my blog, but not all of them are frequent visitors. So those may just add to my statistics, but not to my discussions.
You can take a look at frequent commentators and chose to follow their works with more dedication that the sporadic ones. For this, you can scroll down to My site ….Stats …top commentators.
As for NOT wanting to follow some followers, that too is a personal choice. Reciprocation is intended & expected – but is not an obligation. That’s fine too. So, basically, plenty of choice available for the blogger to interact or NOT interact.
