He counted exactly 27 tablets, calculated the exact dose, estimated the exact minutes needed for the drug to swim into his bloodstream.

“I am the doer. I own my Life. I will design my death.”, he growled.

Death rolled its eyes in mirth and playfully tilted the Continue reading →

3 Krishnas: Krishn (Dwarka), Arjun (Krishn) and Draupadi (Krishnaa).

All 3 shared a name, shared their dusky complexion and shared a deep emotional bond.

Traditionally, Kurukshetra was a war of these 3 Krishnas against evil.

Symbolically, though, was it a war of Arjun versus Krishn & Krishnaa?

Any great deed requires the mind, the heart and the hand to be in-sync.

The Mind = for cool analysis, planning, ideas, impulses, thoughts.

The Heart = for passion, emotions, inspiration and fire.

The Hand = for skills, finesse, well-honed, strong, the doer.

Krishn was the mind, Draupadi was the inspiration and Arjun was the executor of their combined vision.

mind and hand

What if the hand rebels against the heart & mind?

On the eve of Kurukshetra, Arjun paused, paralyzed by his dilemma. Then followed the enriching Q & A session which we know today as Bhagwad Gita.

At Kurukshetra, the mind and the heart were Continue reading →

Circa 1993 . H.S.C exams. Biology, my favorite paper. Every answer on my fingertip; and from there fluidly onto the answer paper. The giddy bubbly feeling when everything is sailing smooth. Life is perfect!

My answers fill Main plus 3 extra sheets. I crosscheck my roll number and hand over the paper bang on time. I stroll out with a silly smug smile hovering over my lips.  As I collect my bag, Disaster strikes! I have forgotten

2 young lives lost. Yes, but WHO IS GUILTY?

Today, I read an article. Two bikers tried to overtake a LandRover, got cornered, were thrown across the divider and were crushed to death by a tanker going in the opposite direction.

The newspaper promptly pronounced the LandRover driver guilty of ‘rash and negligent driving’.

My sympathies for the 2 dead young men. But sympathy cannot be the basis of a verdict. Sympathy cannot cloud Continue reading →

‘’Hello, old friend. You failed me.’’

She perched on the edge of the window. Fragile, petite. Huge eyes fenced by  inch-long eyelashes. Hauntingly familiar.  baby-in-big-cup

I reached to pat her fluffy cheeks, but she dodged it with a lithe ballerina twist, “You promised to teach me dance. You never did.”

I sighed, ‘Kiddo, I tried. We completed 3 levels, remember? “

“But not all 7 levels.”

“You know Life – exams, peer pressure, cut throat competition, corporate world. The innumerable whirlpools that suck one down – Stress, worry, hurry, deadlines, projects. Priorities change.”

She stifled a giggle, “Life has you dancing to its deadlines,” Then she sobered down, “You do know that your Life has its deadline in Death Continue reading →
